a coffee date...

If we were on a coffee date, I would take you to a place where you could get the perfect honey latte, because those are pretty much the best. Outside of hazelnut, that is. And pumpkin. Also, can we talk about how Starbucks has already released their line of pumpkin goodness into the world? For the love, it's not even September yet...

If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that I am currently reading "The Best Yes" by Lysa Terkeurst and how it is literally rocking my world. I am being empowered, challenged, and encouraged all at the same time. I carry it with me in my purse (which could fit a small toddler in it) and read it every little chance that I get! I would also tell you to go pick up a copy, and give you one of my extra Lifeway coupons because this girl is all about saving money.

If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you all about the changes in my life and in my church. Change is good, but stressful. Change creates opportunity to develop faith and trust on our Savior, that He will make a way and that He will be good. I would tell you that Jesus has taught me so much about control and faith and sovereignty over this past month, and I am so thankful for those lessons, even though they have not come cheaply.

If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you about my obsession with my new shelving/ledges from Ikea. And about how I purchased my very first power tool and mounted them with no help from any man friends! They look AMAZING and I find myself reorganizing the ledges every day. They are so fun and add so much character to my little space!

If we were on a coffee date, you would laugh at me and my newest irrational fear, because I somehow come up with new ones every week. (Real talk... every day.)

If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you all about my awkward interactions with men. Because again, real talk, those happen every day too.

If we were on a coffee date, I would talk to you about goals and aspirations... What do you want to do? Where do you want to travel? What kind of man do you want to marry? Are you wanting to have children, or maybe even adopt? I would naturally go into a tangent about adoption and how I desperately want to adopt little children from far away places. I always have and I always will...

If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that I just saw The 100-Foot Journey this last weekend and that you need to go see it too. It was the most lovely movie experience i have had in a long time. Now, don't get me wrong, I was all about Divergent and Tammy when they came out, but this movie, it's one of those that grabs the attention of your heart and mind and soul and reminds you of the sweetness of life. Seriously, I am telling you... GO RIGHT NOW. And it's directed by Oprah. Gosh, that lady is everywhere!

If we were on a coffee date, you would listen to me complain about how the pastries look so good but I can't have any. I have given up bread/carbs until October 1, 2014. Yes, it's a stupid, wild, lame idea, but it is totally paying off. But come October 1, this girl is buying all the Pumpkin Bread that Starbucks has to offer! Okay, maybe just one...

If we were on a coffee date, you would definitely judge me as I ask you if you remember Jesse McCartney and if you would like to come to the House of Blues with me to see him play next week. I mean, come on... "Beautiful Soul"? That was my jam for a good two years in high school. Seriously, are you interested?

If we were on a coffee date, I would talk about how I am recently inspired to write again.

And lastly, before we ended our perfectly sweet time together, I would ask how I could be praying for you, and thank you for spending time with me. In our culture, we are so busy, and every moment of our calendars are filled with to-dos and appointments and meetings and car washes and Bible studies and hours of Pinterest decompression; so thank you for spending time with me, for hearing my heart, and allowing my to share life with you.

*These posts are inspired by this lady. She's a new favorite.*

  1. If we were on a coffee date, it would include waffles and I would tell you what a beautiful and inspiring human being you are. I love you; I really do.
