“Are not five
sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before the
Lord. Why, even the hairs on your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of
more value than many sparrows…”
- Luke 12: 6-7
A sparrow is the
most common bird on earth. There is nothing wildly special about them… they are
not known for their brilliant coloring or beautiful sounds, but they are known,
they are recognized.
As a human, we
are common. We all have the same problems, situations, fears, needs… BUT, God
sees those things. He sees them intimately and intricately and knows.
“El Roi” is
Hebrew for “The God Who Sees Me”; it was a name that Hagar recognized God by
during her time of struggle and pain. It is a name that I celebrate of the Lord
daily.
That is the story
of The Beloved Sparrow; although we are common, merely human, Christ calls us
His beloved, calls us His bride, calls us His period. This space is a means of
chronicling the journey of a woman, chosen and beloved, although sometimes she
feels as common as a sparrow.
